Teddy Cholla Wood (Large - 30 cm)

Teddy Cholla wood is the natural skeleton of a cholla cactus left behind after the plant dies. Featuring a hollow center and a dense network of open holes, this larger size provides fantastic, sprawling natural sanctuaries and hiding spots for freshwater shrimp and small fish.

Beyond offering great shelter, cholla wood naturally cultivates a layer of biofilm, which serves as a primary, continuous food source for shrimp. As a bonus, it gently leaches beneficial tannins into the water, helping to soften your aquarium and lower the pH slightly.

  • Size: Approximately 30 cm in length and 5 cm in diameter.

  • Origin: Sourced from the deserts of New Mexico, USA.

  • Note: As a 100% natural product, expect lovely variations in color, size, and texture. Each piece is completely unique, and the photos serve as a representative guide.

Preparation Instructions

Because dry cholla wood will float like mad when first immersed, you must boil the wood for at least an hour (sometimes a little longer) to fully saturate it so it sinks properly in your tank.

Important Safety Information

All of our aquatic botanicals are intended for ornamental aquarium or terrarium use only and are not intended for human consumption (DO NOT INGEST).

Always take the time to boil or soak all botanicals prior to use to minimize any potential water chemistry changes. While all our products are tried and tested, we always recommend going slow when introducing any new botanicals to your setup so you can monitor how they affect your fish, shrimp, and plants.
